Columbia University, New York. Mary Northridge

Dr. Mary Northridge is invited as representative of BRFSS, the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, to participate as external collaborator in the activities and meetings of EURALIM.

Dr. Mary Northridge and Drs. Alfredo Morabia, Bruce Levin and Thomas Melnick submitted a research proposal for funding entitled "Are the differences real ? Determining the sources of variability in BRFSS procedures and evaluating fluctuations over time". This study offers a potential opportunity to associate the BRFSS with EURALIM. BRFSS is administered continuously since 1984 by the Centers for Disease Control and Health Promotion (CDC). At present all 50 US states are participating.

Dr. Mary Northridge will attend the EURALIM meetings and activities to compare the BRFSS to EURALIM with regard to surveillance of risk factors.
